Inspector.AI ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Inspector.AI platform, including the website at inspector.ai and associated subdomains, mobile-optimized pages, and API services (collectively, the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when you use our Platform. By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account and Profile Information

When you create an inspector account or organization profile, we collect:

  • Name, email address, and password credentials
  • Business name, license numbers, certifications, and service areas
  • Profile photo, bio, and gallery images you upload
  • Team member names and roles within your organization

1.2 Booking and Inspection Data

When a homeowner books an inspection through the Platform, we collect:

  • Property address, square footage, year built, and property type
  • Preferred inspection date, time, and service type selected
  • Client contact information (name, email, phone number)
  • Inspection results and reports generated via the Visualogyx (VLX) integration
  • Repair request details and cost estimates associated with inspection findings

1.3 Payment Information

We use Stripe as our payment processor. When you pay for services through the Platform, Stripe collects and processes your payment card details directly. We do not store full card numbers on our systems. We do retain transaction identifiers, amounts, payment status, and invoice records in our database to support billing history and refund workflows.

For inspectors who receive payouts through Stripe Connect, Stripe may collect additional identity verification information (bank account details, SSN/EIN last four digits) as required by financial regulations.

1.4 Communications

We collect content you send through the Platform, including:

  • Messages submitted via the contact form
  • Email addresses submitted for newsletter subscription
  • Review text and ratings submitted after completed inspections
  • Support inquiries and correspondence with our team

1.5 Usage and Technical Data

We automatically collect certain information when you use the Platform:

  • IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages visited, features used, and time spent on the Platform
  • Referral URLs and search terms that led you to the Platform
  • Error logs and performance metrics used to diagnose issues

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and organization profile
  • Facilitate bookings between homeowners and inspectors
  • Process payments, issue invoices, and manage refunds
  • Deliver inspection reports and repair request summaries
  • Send transactional communications (booking confirmations, appointment reminders, report delivery notifications)
  • Send marketing or promotional communications (only where you have opted in)
  • Respond to support inquiries and contact form submissions
  • Power AI-assisted features such as smart scheduling suggestions, draft messaging, and revenue forecasting using the Anthropic Claude API
  • Detect fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the security of the Platform
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful government requests
  • Analyze aggregate usage trends to improve Platform features and performance

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We share information with third-party vendors only as necessary to operate the Platform. These providers are bound by data processing agreements and may not use your information for their own marketing purposes.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you authenticated during your session (session cookies)
  • Remember your preferences (e.g., sidebar state, calendar view)
  • Analyze Platform usage via aggregated, anonymized analytics

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell your data to ad networks. You can control cookie settings through your browser; however, disabling session cookies will prevent you from using authenticated features of the Platform.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Inspection records and invoices are retained for a minimum of seven (7) years to comply with applicable financial and professional regulations. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize personal information within 90 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), access controls, and infrastructure hosted in AWS us-east-1 with VPC isolation. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell
  • Delete personal information we have collected from you (subject to certain exceptions)
  • Opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information)
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
